Solomon

The Wise King

King known for his wisdom, wealth, and building the first Temple in Jerusalem.

Solomon, son of David and Bathsheba, ruled Israel during its golden age of peace and prosperity. When God offered him anything he desired, Solomon requested wisdom to govern effectively, pleasing God who blessed him with unparalleled wisdom, wealth, and honor. Under his reign, the magnificent Jerusalem Temple was constructed, international trade flourished, and Israel's influence expanded. Despite his extraordinary wisdom, Solomon's later years were marked by compromise as his foreign wives turned his heart toward their gods, ultimately leading to the kingdom's division after his death. His insights and reflections are preserved in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs.
