Mary Magdalene

Faithful Follower

Follower of Jesus who witnessed His crucifixion and resurrection.

Mary Magdalene was transformed from a woman possessed by seven demons to one of Jesus's most devoted followers. After Jesus healed her, she joined other women in supporting His ministry financially. Mary demonstrated extraordinary loyalty by staying at the cross when most disciples fled and was among the women who went to anoint Jesus's body on Sunday morning. Her faithfulness was rewarded with the privilege of being the first witness of the resurrection and the first to be commissioned to share the good news. Despite later unfounded traditions conflating her with other biblical characters or portraying her as a prostitute, the Gospel accounts present Mary Magdalene as a model disciple whose life was radically changed by Christ and who served Him with gratitude and courage until the end.
