Isaiah
Messianic Prophet
Prophet who had visions of God's holiness and foretold the coming Messiah.
Isaiah is often considered the greatest of Israel's writing prophets, whose ministry spanned the reigns of several kings of Judah. After a dramatic vision of God's holiness in the temple, Isaiah was commissioned to deliver messages of both judgment and hope. While confronting the sins of Judah and surrounding nations, he also provided the most detailed prophecies about the coming Messiah in the Old Testament. His writings described the Messiah's virgin birth, suffering, death, and eventual reign, earning him the title "the evangelical prophet." The book bearing his name contains some of the most quoted passages in the Bible, combining exquisite poetry with profound theological insights.
