David
King of Israel
A man after God's own heart, known for his psalms and leadership of Israel.
David stands as a pivotal figure in biblical history - a shepherd boy who became Israel's greatest king. Selected by God and anointed by Samuel, he demonstrated remarkable faith in defeating Goliath before enduring years of persecution from King Saul. As king, David established Jerusalem as Israel's capital, expanded the kingdom's borders, and was promised an eternal dynasty by God. Though he committed serious sins, his genuine repentance and devotion to God earned him the description "a man after God's own heart." His poetic talents produced many of the Psalms, and his lineage eventually produced Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
